Edgewater - Quarry Ramble
MCEC recently completed Lot 573 Quarry Ramble in Edgewater. The project involved the transition of an old quarry into a stylish 25 lot subdivision. This complex project involved rock, a site surrounded by residents, high walls, extensive earthworks and a deep drain cell drainage system.
The significant limestone mass block retaining walls were made up primarily of two major 4-5 metre high walls. Our subcontractor Stonecivil had three trucks delivering blocks virtually full time and testament to just how hard the wall crew worked was demonstrated when they set an all-time company record for the amount of stone laid in a single day! We thank Stonecivil for their stellar efforts in helping meet our very tight timeline.
We also had to do considerable earthworks, with almost 10 metres height difference across the site. By screening large quantities of material through our “grizzly” we were able to reduce the amount of limestone rubble taken offsite and virtually eliminate sand import to site. The tight site layout meant material had to stockpiled on the higher levels during the wall construction and then be relocated to the lower levels to finalise the site levels.
Our Project team of Stefan Roth, Heath Keetelaar & Gary Wainwright were challenged throughout the project, working exceptionally hard to complete the project. On behalf of the company we say thank you and well done to them and all the staff that helped pull this project together.
