This project includes site remediation, bulk earthworks, upgrade to existing road, stormwater drainage and 2.3km of water distribution main installation.

The remediation works included the removal and disposal off site of contaminated soils of classification class 1-5, including PAH material, removal of contaminated water and underground storage tanks, removal and disposal of oily water. The PAH material needed to be disposed of at the high temperature incinerator in Port Headland. A service corridor was also constructed in the existing slag material. All material moved both on and off site was tracked using a dedicated waste tracking system. Every single load of material was logged using this system.

The Bulk Earthworks included the Cut to Fill / Spoil of 47,000m3 of Blast Furnace Residue material, Cut to Fill of 81,000m3 of sand. A Limestone hardstand of 180,000m2 was also constructed, which serves as a future lay down area and a capping for the underlying contaminated material. Several sumps were constructed with one having capacity of 45,000 m3.
