Urban Renewals
Aberdeen Street
This project involved redevelopment of land above the Northbridge tunnel located at the western entrance of the tunnel and is bounded by Fitzgerald and Shenton Streets, extending to William Street, incorporating Palmerston Street.
The works involved the construction of stormwater drainage, water main, streetscape works including brickpaving, landscaping and irrigation, installation of communications and conversion of power from overhead to underground, including the construction of a HV substation. The streetscape works entailed full verge reconstruction, construction of brickpaved footpaths, car parking embayments and intersection reconstruction, as well as extensive landscaping works including the transplant of mature olive trees.
Other works included extensive demolition, restoration of heritage listed buildings, as well as detailed site remediation.
Traffic and pedestrian management was of foremost importance, as the works were constructed under full pedestrian and vehicular traffic, with a requirement to maintain access to residential and business properties.
